Chimney Camera Scans

Masonry chimneys tend to have cracks and breaks along the walls of the liners and the only way to spot the exact location is to use this technology. Pre-fabricated chimneys can rust and may have defects in assembly that cause problems that can only be seen using the camera. Even in older metal chimney liners corrosion can cause pin-holes that can present risk to the integrity of the chimney system.  Running a specialized camera down the chimney to evaluate its condition during an inspection is written into the building code in our area. It should not be considered optional.

Here is a crack in the flue only visible by
looking with the remote camera. Cracks
widen when heated and may allow heat
to transfer to adjacent combustibles.

This metal chimney over heated and
buckled. The insulation fell out
leaving only a thin sheet metal wall
between the heat and the wood around it.

The National Fire Protection Association, or NFPA, has classified inspections into three categories you should be aware of.  Click here to read more and see what category you fall into.
